Our Story

Envision Rwanda started off as a simple idea whose roots can be traced to the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village in Rwamagana, Rwanda. The Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village (ASYV) is home to over 525 orphaned and vulnerable youth from all districts of Rwanda. In the village, students are provided a home, family, high school education, and access to after-school programs which focus on the arts as a way to heal from their traumatic pasts.

In 2016, Peter Lee, a long term volunteer from the United States with a background in photography and filmmaking created a media production program in the village which focused on digital photo, video, and news production.  After two years training dozens of inspired and talented students, he could see the creative potential in them and wanted to continue to develop these talents after their graduation.

He decided the best way to impact and provide further opportunities for these students was to create a media production company based in Kigali.  After returning back home to the United States, Peter envisioned how this idea could become a success.  Committed to this idea, he sold his car, raised startup capital, purchased all the latest production equipment and moved back to Rwanda.  In April 2018, equipped with a dream and a team of motivated Rwandan talents, Envision was born and ready to create magic in the heart of Kigali. Today, that dream has evolved into a thriving community of over 50 artists working together to turn Rwanda into the center of creativity and the arts in Africa.
